About This Site

This site is informational.  It shows various aspects of Queen Anne Lutheran Church: its location and how to get there, when worship services are scheduled, what activities are available, what the church building looks like outside and inside, a means for having prayers made on your behalf, youth activities, a look at the staff of the church, and other information of interest.  Please take time to look through and review it all.

Links in general are identified by different shade of color.  When the mouse pointing icon hovers over text that is a link, the text changes color and an underline is added.  Once the link has been visited, the color of the text is changed for the rest of the session.  Also, icons or images are often links to other pages, like the bell image in the upper left hand corner.  Try it - it will take you to the main page. This is its function on each page in the web site.  Well, there is an exception on the main page itself, when clicking it brings up a special page describing the reason for the bell image.

This site was created in partial fulfillment of a course assignment in Web Authoring. This assignment had several requirements both technical and organizational.  On the technical side, these pages needed to conform to a particular web markup language standard (XHTML), to make use of elementary markup language constructs, to minimize the size of these pages, to minimize the number and size of images used on these pages, to have the page content fit within an 800 x 600 pixel screen, and to have between seven to ten pages operational by the end of the class.  (The last requirement has been surpassed a long time ago!)  On the organizational side, these pages needed to be attractive, be easy to use by the web-surfing public, and to provide information about Queen Anne Lutheran Church that benefits both current members and potential members.

Members of the church receive a monthly newsletter called The Quill.  Many of the activities and events in the life of Queen Anne Lutheran described in The Quill can be found on one of three web pages.  Recurring activities can be found incorporated in the Ministries page.  Unique and special events along with issues of especial importance, such as the need in 2005 for donations to aid Hurricane Katrina survivors, can be found in the Special Notices page.  These pages are updated monthly with content from The Quill newletter as well as from items in the Sunday bulletins.
